When I was looking for the next environment I wanted to make, I wanted to make sure it was a project I could practice modularity, but also stay motivated throughout the process. The CG barbie movies from the early 2000s were a big part of me and my sister’s childhood. The idea that I could make an environment that my sister’s could run around in was super appealing and kept me motivated throughout the creation of this project. Looking back, the movie pavilion felt more plain than I recalled. I decided it would be a perfect way to practice modularity while also getting to play with the design of props. It gave me the perfect balance of structure and play in my artwork.

I learned a lot on this project! Most of the props and large structural pieces make use of one trim. Because of this the scene came together really quickly which allowed me to spend more time on redesigning props such as the pillars and floorlights from the original movie.
The water shader featured in the project was made by Fabian Lopez Arosa (https://carepasdesign.gumroad.com/) and the VFX I ended up buying from Harry3D(https://mlkvch89.gumroad.com/). Everything else in the scene was done by me.

This is actually a re-upload of the original 'Magic Pavilion' post. Previously, I had collaborated with long time friend and talented lighting artist Hiram Rodriguez. I did the art and passed it off to Hiram to light. It was an awesome experience, testing collaboration and trusting someone else with my work. However for my own artistic journey I wanted to take a stab at the lighting on my own. With Hiram's guidance now as a mentor, a fresh set of eyes, and of course Beyond Extent also providing feedback- I got a result I'm pretty pleased with.
Thanks for checking this out again!
